I know many of you are asking. What's the performance of this beast?
The advertised performance of the original car was as follows:
Output (kW at r/min, SABS): 150.0 @ 4800 (about 201.15BHP)
Torque (Nm at r/min, SABS): 330.0 @ 3400
Compare these to the Sierra RS Cosworth produced two years later in 1986.
Output (kW at r/min, SABS): 149.9 @ 6000 (201BHP)
Torque (Nm at r/min, SABS): 277.0 @ 4500
And then compare these to the Sierra RS500 Cosworth produced a year after the standard cosworth in 1987.
Output (kW at r/min, SABS): 167 @ 6000 (224BHP)
Torque (Nm at r/min, SABS): 277.0 @ 4500
After a power run test on the rolling road at jam sport
The power output is:
Output (kW at r/min, SABS): 155 @ 5775 (211BHP)
Torque (Nm at r/min, SABS): 305.06 @ 4433 (255 LbFt)
As I go through the process of restoring and kitting out the car I will doing a few more modifications along the way in addition to what was done when I got it.
As I modify the car I want to gauge it on various levels. First is power but also 0-60 times, 0-100 times. There is one thing about going fast in a straight line but what about corners. So the ultimate test will be times round the Nurburgring.
Booked to be going round the ring for end of August so i'll be interested to see what time it does a lap in.
